The Headmins
The Headmins are mysterious wanderers who inhabit the Northern shores and windswept cliffs of Thumbman Island.
Known for fish surfing, storytelling, and their occasional mischief toward the Thumbmen, the Headmins live between myth and tide, guided by instinct, curiosity, and the rhythms of the elements.
Among them are many kinds, Shore Riders who surf the great Wozza fish of the coastal waters, Lantern Keepers who guard ancient paths, Cliff Watchers who study the skies, Artisans who preserve Headmin history
through painted artefacts and craft, and the rarest of all: The Dreamers, known among the Headmins as “The Millies.”
The Dreamer Headmins feel the ancient pull of the four elements, Earth, Water, Air, and Fire.
For the Sun Dreamers, a magical ladder appears in the sky, and the chosen ascend toward the sun itself. Sometimes others follow.
Though they always return, they come back changed, carrying strange tales of distant realms, impossible landscapes, and adventures beyond the understanding of ordinary Headmins.
Through painted artefacts, story, and myth, the world of the Headmins explores wonder, mystery, humour, and the timeless desire to follow the unknown.
The Angry Bulbs
On the northern shores of Quasiland Major lies Rootgard, homeland of the adventurous Angry Bulbs. Known for their fierce expressions, mischievous curiosity, and endless appetite for adventure, the Bulbs are irresistibly drawn to the mysterious pull of Thumb Man Island and the strange happenings on the Mingus Peninsular.
Part explorer, part treasure hunter, part accidental troublemaker and part comedian, the Angry Bulbs sail dangerous northern seas aboard long wooden boats and weathered ships in search of lost artefacts, forgotten magic, and stories waiting to be uncovered.
Despite their intimidating appearance, the Bulbs are not truly angry at all, their strange expressions conceal a wildly adventurous and often hilarious nature.
Among them are fearless warriors, wandering scholars, sailors, map makers, and storytellers, all searching for wonder beyond the horizon.
Some Bulbs even find themselves mysteriously transported beyond their own world and into ours through the magical Whurlem Turlem hidden deep within Thumbman Island.Look out for those special edition artefacts.
Though the Thumbmen often see them as invaders, the Bulbs are driven less by greed than by curiosity and discovery. Their journeys frequently awaken ancient mysteries, strange forces, and more than a little chaos along the way.
The Fish Surfers of Thumbman Island
Along the coastline of Thumbman Island ride the legendary Fish Surfers of the Headmins, fearless wave riders who travel across the sea on the backs of the giant Wozza fish.
The Wozzas are the fish that glide through the cold waters surrounding the island, their vast bodies rising beneath the crashing waves like living islands. Forming mysterious bonds with chosen Headmins, the Wozzas allow the surfers to ride the ocean currents, leap through storm swells, and travel between hidden coves, sea caves, and distant shores.
To outsiders, the sight is surreal, lone Headmins balancing across the backs of these colossal fish as spray and mist rise around them beneath the cliffs of Thumbman Island. Some ride for sport and freedom, while others patrol the coastlines, carry messages between settlements, or follow the strange magical pulls and ancient forces that drift through the seas of Quasiland.
Among the Headmins, Fish Surfing is more than skill alone, it is part ritual, part friendship, and part calling. Young surfers spend years learning to read tides, winds, and the moods of the Wozzas themselves. Many believe the giant fish are deeply connected to the ancient energies guarded by the Thumbmen and can sense disturbances long before they appear.
The greatest surfers are celebrated throughout the island as storytellers, explorers, and guardians of the waters. Around driftwood fires and lantern-lit harbours, tales are shared of impossible rides through black storms, glowing night seas, and journeys far beyond the known edges of Quasiland.
Far out beyond the cliffs, where mist and sky meet the ocean, the silhouettes of the Wozza riders can sometimes still be seen —
carving silently across the waves beneath the watchful gaze of the ancient Thumbmen.
